Sasha and Luda Partnership

Sasha and Luda Dragonov are Ukrainian activists supporting the Ukrainian Community in the Washington D.C. Metro area. They are raising money for the purchase of vehicles and drones in Ukraine.

After meeting them, we decided to join our efforts and welcomed them into Ukraine Aid. We began by sending an evacuation vehicle to Ukraine that was purchased in Germany. Among their many activities, Sasha and Luda have a crafts shop at Lake Anne in Reston that features many Ukraine themed articles. The proceeds are all used to support Ukraine.

Thank you Sasha and Luda for partnering with Ukraine Aid!

From Stilwell to Ukraine: A Doctor's Generosity

Through the generosity of one man, Dr. Dennis Martin, Ukraine Aid shipped 1,021 pounds of medical supplies to a front line mobile hospital (MASH) in Ukraine. When Dr. Martin completed his Family Practice Residency in 1979, he wanted to serve a “needy rural area”. He began a practice in Stilwell, OK, becoming the fourth doctor in the entire county. His practice included the Martin Medical Center where he performed outpatient surgery. After more than 40 years, he contacted Ukraine Aid and donated his equipment and supplies in support of Ukraine. When we discussed the lack of clothing for wounded soldiers coming in from the field, he purchased sweatpants, T-shirts, underwear and socks for 200 patients. He topped it all off with a significant cash donation.

Dr. Martin conducted multiple medical visits under emergency conditions to numerous countries during his career. While he would never admit it, the man is a hero.

The good doctor speaks of how fortunate he is for having had a fulfilling career. Be like Dr. Martin.

Birthday Wish: Support Ukraine!

Jackson is a 10-year-old Ukrainian-American who asked friends to donate to Ukraine Aid instead of accepting birthday presents:

“I choose to ask my friends to donate to Ukraine instead of giving me birthday presents because I have been following the war and I think the Russian invasion was wrong. Putin is also trying to wrongfully reunite the countries that broke off the Soviet Union. If he does do this Russia could be a threat to N.A.T.O. like nothing before I also am Ukrainian myself and I have family in Ukraine. In Ukraine the people are suffering from the war. Here in the U.S., we are living normal lives, and earning extra money to spend freely. This is a privilege which I am glad to have, but think of all the people in Ukraine, cramped in bomb shelters, fighting, worrying what’s to come, and they have nothing to do with starting the war. The Russians are killing every living thing in sight, but Ukraine is fighting back. Ukraine is conquering back territories that Russia previously conquered and giving Russia a hard time. If we all work together and donate to Ukraine, then Ukraine could win the war. With this I hope that this has inspired you to donate to Ukraine, if you donate it could save lives.”

-Jackson

Thank you, Jackson!
